Overstrike Function in Case CATalyst

Article ID: 103
Last updated: 10 Mar, 2015

Sometimes Technical Support will receive a call from a customer saying as they type, the text in front of the cursor is being deleted.

As you can see, as the word "the" is being typed, the word "insurance" is being deleted.  This is because Overstrike function is enabled.  By default the Overstrike function is assigned to the Insert key on your keyboard.  You can tell if Overstrike is enabled by looking at the Status Bar at the bottom of the screen and seeing the letters "OVR" in black text.

To disable Overstrike, press the Insert key.  To verify Overstrike is disabled, look in the Status Bar at the bottom of the screen and "OVR" will be in gray text.
